1. Welcome to ACM SIGEnergy!

Dear colleagues – I hope you had a safe holiday season. Here is wishing you a very happy new year! This is the first newsletter as part of the newly formed ACM SIGEnergy. As indicated by Prashant Shenoy in the previous newsletter, we will use this forum to keep you informed about new activities. Of course, we would like to hear from you on how SIGEnergy can serve you and the community better. Please don’t hesitate to share your ideas and suggestions with me at arvishwa@au1.ibm.com. We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

2. ACM e-Energy 2021 – Call for Papers

The 12th ACM International Conference on Future Energy Systems (ACM e-Energy) will be held in Torino, Italy between June 28 to July 2, 2021. The CFP can be found here https://energy.acm.org/conferences/eenergy/2021/cfp.php.

Please note the **new** “Operational systems papers” category.

Following are the key dates:
Paper registration deadline: January 27, 2021
Paper submission deadline: February 3, 2021
Author notification: April 20, 2021
Camera-ready submission: May 18, 2021
ACM e-Energy’20 conference: June 28 – July 2, 2021

3. Prof. Minghua Chen – Elevated to Distinguished Member of ACM

Prof. Chen has been actively involved in our community over the past several years. His research interests span the topics of online optimization and algorithms for smart energy systems.

4. ACM SIGEnergy resource for energy-related data sets.

The ACM SIGEnergy website has a Resources page with a variety of data sets freely available for use by the energy community. It is available at https://energy.acm.org/resources/

We invite each of you to share any energy-related data sets, models and software that we haven’t added to this page. Please send this information directly to Omid Ardakanian at ardakanian@ualberta.ca.
