1. ACM BuildSys 2021 – Call For Papers
The 8th ACM International Conference on Systems for Energy-Efficient Built Environments (BuildSys 2021) will host a highly selective, single-track forum for research on systems issues covering all aspects of the built environment, broadly defined. It is the premier conference for researchers and practitioners working to develop and optimize smart infrastructure systems that are driven by sophisticated sensing, computing, and control functions.
Abstract registration deadline: 9 July
Paper submission deadline: 16 July
Conference: 17-18 Nov
Please see the detailed CFP here http://buildsys.acm.org/2021/
2. ACM eEnergy 2021 – Registration and participation
The Twelfth ACM International Conference on Future Energy Systems (ACM e-Energy) and its co-located workshops, to be held online from June 28 to July 2, 2021, aim to be the premier venue for researchers working in the broad areas of computing and communication for smart energy systems (including smart grids, smart buildings, and smart cities), and in energy-efficient computing and communication systems.
Conference dates: June 28 to July 2
Please visit https://energy.acm.org/conferences/eenergy/2021/index.php for additional information about the conference, its workshops, and registration.
3. Introduction of the new Communications Director
As of this month, Arun Vishwanath will step down as the communications director of ACM SIG because of his new responsibilities and role at IBM. We thank him for his great service to our community and his dedication during the last few years. My name is Yashar Ghiassi-Farrokhfal, an Associate Professor at Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University) and I am honored to be the successor of Arun. This is very exciting for me and I hope I can help the community as much as Arun did.
Yashar Ghiassi-Farrokhfal is an Associate Professor at the Department of Technology and Operations Management at the Rotterdam School of Management of the Erasmus University. He is also the academic director of Smart Cities and Smart Energy at the Erasmus Center for Data Analytics (ECDA). He holds a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada, and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Computer Science department of the University of Waterloo, Canada. His research interests include modeling energy systems for investment and operational decisions, wholesale and retail electricity markets, Energy cooperatives, e-mobility, P2P trading.
4. ACM SIGEnergy resource for energy-related data sets.
The ACM SIGEnergy website has a Resources page with a variety of data sets freely available for use by the energy community. It is available at https://energy.acm.org/resources/
We invite each of you to share any energy-related data sets, models and software that we haven’t added to this page. Please send this information directly to Omid Ardakanian at email@example.com.
5. Posting additional information
If you would like to post additional information such as academic job opportunities, Ph.D. scholarships, or a new energy systems course, then please send me the details and I will include them in the next monthly newsletter. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
As always, the ACM SIGEnergy website has the latest information. We welcome you to peruse it https://energy.acm.org/
