SIGEnergy Rising Star Award 2022 winner

SIGEnergy establishes an annual Rising Star Award to recognize a young researcher who has made outstanding research contributions to the field of energy systems and informatics.

As the inaugural year, we receive strong nominations and the award committee would like to thank the community for the great support. The 2022 SIGEnergy Rising Star Award winner is Baosen Zhang from University of Washington, for the following citation:

for contribution to control and AI-based methods in energy system operations

Baosen Zhang received his Bachelor degree in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto in 2008; and his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from University of California, Berkeley in 2013. He was a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University. He is currently the Keith and Nancy Endowed Career Development Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. His research interests are in control, optimization and learning applied to power and energy systems. He received the NSF CAREER award as well as several best paper awards.
