1. ACM eEnergy’23 – Updates
ACM e-Energy is the premier forum for research at the intersection of computing and communication technologies with energy systems. It has established a strong track record for high-quality research in the application of computing and networked systems to make legacy systems more energy-efficient and in the design, analysis, and development of sustainable and innovative energy systems.
The 14th ACM International Conference on Future Energy Systems (ACM e-Energy 2023) and its co-located tutorials and workshops will be held in Orlando, Florida during June 16 – 23, 2023. By bringing together researchers in a single-track conference designed to offer significant opportunities for personal interaction, it is a major forum for shaping the future of this area. ACM e-Energy 2023 will be held jointly with ACM Federated Computing Research Conference (FCRC) 2023, which assembles a spectrum of affiliated research conferences and workshops. ACM e-Energy 2023 attendees are free to attend the technical sessions of all FCRC conferences and workshops.
We seek high-quality papers at the intersection of computing and communication technologies with smart and sustainable energy systems. We welcome submissions describing conceptual advances, as well as advances in system design, implementation, and experimentation, and we explicitly welcome inter- or trans-disciplinary work. ACM e-Energy is committed to a fair, timely, and thorough review process with sound and detailed feedback.

2. EIR – Updates
ACM SIGENERGY Energy Informatics Review (EIR) is a new online publication venue for articles on topics within the SIG’s field of interest. It seeks high-quality papers at the intersection of computing and communication technologies with smart and sustainable energy systems and the built infrastructure.
The next submission deadline is March 1, 2023, to be considered for the June 2023 issue. Please check the following link for submission deadlines and other information: https://energy.acm.org/eir/cal
3. Site proposals for ACM e-Energy 2024
The ACM e-Energy Steering Committee is calling for site proposals for ACM e-Energy conference in 2024. ACM e-Energy is always soliciting site proposals. Site proposals should be less than 2 pages ASCII text (66 lines, 80 columns; an equivalent size PDF document is acceptable). Send proposals to the current Chair of the e-Energy Steering Committee ([email protected]) with the header: “e-Energy site proposal – YEAR” (with the appropriate year in 4-digit format). In case you do not get an acknowledgment within one week of submitting your proposal, you should email the e-Energy Steering Committee Chair to inquire on its status.
Locations rotate on a three-year cycle between North America, Europe, and a “wildcard” that can be a location in North America or Europe or outside of those two regions. Please look at past venues to see the location of the next conference.
Potential dates: e-Energy is generally held during one of the two first weeks of June.
Deadline: February 25, 2023

4. 2022 SIGEnergy Rising Star and Doctoral Dissertation Awards Winners
4.1. 2022 SIGEnergy Doctoral Dissertation Award Winners
SIGEnergy establishes an annual Doctoral Dissertation Award to recognize an outstanding Ph.D. thesis in the field of energy systems and informatics. (https://energy.acm.org/call-f
As the inaugural year, we receive strong nominations and the award committee would like to thank the community for the great support to the endeavours. The competition has been fierce and the award committee is pleased to announce that the 2022 SIGEnergy Doctoral Dissertation Award winner goes to Priya Donti (PhD from CMU) for her thesis titled “Bridging Deep Learning and Electric Power Systems”.
4.2. 2022 SIGEnergy Rising Star Award Winners
SIGEnergy establishes an annual Rising Star Award to recognize a young researcher who has made outstanding research contributions to the field of energy systems and informatics. (https://energy.acm.org/call-f
As the inaugural year, we receive strong nominations and the award committee would like to thank the community for the great support. The 2022 SIGEnergy Rising Star Award winner is Baosen Zhang from University of Washington, for contribution to control and AI-based methods in energy system operations.
5. Job Opportunities
5.1. OFFIS Institute – Doctoral researcher positions for mosaik development
Location: OFFIS Institute, Energy Division, Oldenburg, Germany
Mosaic developer – We are seeking to expand our mosaik development group and aim to fill multiple positions in the core team that is responsible for developing our widely used co-simulation framework mosaik. The positions offer unique opportunities to become a part of the mosaik development to make the tooling ready for the upcoming challenges of energy co-simulation research. The positions offer the opportunity for a PhD in computer science. Additional information can be found at:
5.2. PhD and Postdoc opportunities at Monash University
The energy informatics team at the Department of Data Science and AI, Monash University in Australia is seeking three Ph.D. Students and one Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the field of AI and Optimization for Sustainable Energy Systems. The three Ph.D. projects are 1) AI-assisted decentralized decision-making for managing distributed energy resources; 2) Incentive mechanism design and distributed optimization in distribution grids; and 3) Human-in-the-loop AI for microgrid energy management. The postdoctoral research will focus on energy data analytics for EV charging behaviors. Causal Research Assistants will also be considered. Candidates with strong skills in distributed optimization, operations research, reinforcement learning, and responsible AI are highly encouraged to apply. Interested candidates can find more information on https://research.monash.edu/en
5.3. Post-doc positions at Rotterdam School of Management
There are two post-doc positions related to European projects at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University. RSM is one of Europe’s top 10 research-based business schools with an active energy research team. The energy research at RSM includes electricity markets, P2P energy markets, V2G and smart charging, etc. The starting date is June 1st, 2023.
