1. ACM eEnergy’25 – Call for Workshop Proposals (2025), Call for Site Proposal (2026)

ACM e-Energy is the premier forum for research at the intersection of computing and communication technologies with energy systems. It has established a strong track record for high-quality research in the application of computing and networked systems to make legacy systems more energy-efficient and in the design, analysis, and development of sustainable and innovative energy systems.

The 16th ACM International Conference on Future and Sustainable Energy Systems (ACM e-Energy 2025) and its co-located tutorials and workshops will be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, June 17 – 20, 2025 (the workshops are on June 17 and the main technical conference is during June 18 – 20).

By bringing together researchers in a high-quality single-track conference with significant opportunities for individual and small-group interaction, it will serve as a major forum for presentations and discussions that will shape the future of this area.

* Call for Workshop Proposal (2025)*

In the 16th year of its conference series, the international conference ACM e-Energy as the number one forum for research at the intersection of computing and communication technologies with energy systems adds an inter- and transdisciplinary notion to its general focus. In continuation to former events, it again invites high-quality workshops to be colocated with the conference for mutual benefit. These workshops are aimed at exploring in-depth topics related to the areas of computing and communication for smart energy systems, as well as energy-efficient computing and communication systems. They will provide an opportunity for scientists, engineers, and practitioners to exchange and share their new ideas, experiences, and research results. Same as the main conference, the workshops are held entirely in-person.

2. ACM BuildSys’24 – Call for Participation

The 11th ACM International Conference on Systems for Energy-Efficient Buildings, Cities, and Transportation (BuildSys 2024) will be held on November 7-8, 2024, in Hangzhou, China.

BuildSys will host a highly selective, single-track forum for research on systems issues covering all aspects of the broadly defined built environment. Advances in the effective integration of networked sensors, building controls, and physical infrastructure are transforming our society, allowing the formation of unprecedented built environments and interlocking physical, social, and cyber challenges. Moreover, built environments, including buildings and critical urban infrastructure, account for over half of society’s energy consumption and are the mainstay of our nation’s economy, security, and health. As a result, there is a broad recognition that systems optimizing explicitly for the built environment are particularly important in improving our society, and represent the foundation for emerging “smart cities”. BuildSys is an ideal venue for researchers and practitioners developing and optimizing smart infrastructure systems driven by networked sensing, computing, and control functions.

3. EIR – Updates

ACM SIGENERGY Energy Informatics Review (EIR) is a new online publication venue for articles on topics within the SIG’s field of interest. It seeks high-quality papers at the intersection of computing and communication technologies with smart and sustainable energy systems and the built infrastructure. The focus is on timely disseminating new ideas that may help trigger additional investigations. While innovation and timeliness are the major criteria for its acceptance, technical robustness, and readability will also be considered in the review process. Specifically, papers with early evaluation or feasibility studies are highly encouraged. Submit your file at https://sigenergy-eir.hotcrp.com. Papers accepted for publication are accessible through the ACM Digital Library. The anticipated delay from submission to publication is no more than 4.5 months on average.

 

 

4. SIGEnergy Graduate Seminar Series

ACM SIGEnergy Graduate Student Seminar is a monthly virtual seminar series in which graduate students present their ongoing work to peers and mentors around the world. The seminar series provides an opportunity for knowledge exchange in our community between our conferences, e-Energy and BuildSys.

 

 

5. 2025 SIGEnergy Rising Star Award — Call for Nomination (deadline Nov. 30th)

The annual SIGEnergy Rising Star Award recognizes a young researcher who has made outstanding research contributions to the field of energy systems and informatics, within nine years of receiving her/his highest university degree. Depth, impact, and novelty of the researcher’s contributions will be key evaluation criteria.

Remark: At the discretion of the award committee, eligibility may be adjusted to account for documented career interruptions, including but not limited to medical leaves, family leaves, and military service. Questions of eligibility should be directed to the award chair in advance of nomination. The ultimate decision of whether an interruption is acceptable is subject to the award committee.

  • Next deadline: November 30, 2024, AoE (nominees should receive their PhD degrees after January 1 2016 to be eligible)

6. 2025 SIGEnergy Doctoral Dissertation Award — Call for Nomination (deadline Nov. 30th)

The annual SIGEnergy Doctoral Dissertation Award recognizes an outstanding Ph.D. thesis in the field of energy systems and informatics. Selection is based on the thesis quality in creating promising new ideas, paradigms, and tools, related to energy systems and informatics. Depth, impact, and novelty of the thesis’s contributions will be key criteria upon which the SIGEnergy Doctoral Dissertation Award Committee evaluates the nominations. A thesis can be nominated at most once.

  • Next deadline: November 30, 2024, AoE (theses accepted by the corresponding institute between Sept. 1, 2023, and Aug. 31, 2024, are eligible)
